Mission
The RENEw project's mission is to use waste as raw material in construction products, thus reducing the environmental impact (toxicity) of the products in two ways: reducing the impact by landfilling and reducing the need to use available natural resources.
Goals
This project proposes the development and implementation of structural concrete and innovative bituminous concrete of wide use, manufactured using waste or industrial by-products, which will respond to the problem of, on the one hand, drastically reduce the use of natural resources and energy-intensive products in construction, and on the other hand, enhance the reintroduction of waste and by-products in the value chain, within the concept of circular economy. Aiming to radically increase the sustainability of the construction industry, this project is based on an approach that combines 3 distinct vectors of action:
01.
Technology of structural concrete and asphalt concrete with waste incorporation
02.
Self-healing mechanisms in structural concrete and bituminous concrete with waste incorporation to extend its service life
03.
Systematic models for the continuous valorization of waste and industrial by-products in a business environment, and their transition to the market
